Serial killers are living, walking, breathing ghouls silently moving among us and searching for their next prey, preparing for their next kill. It sounds spooky just the thought of it gives us goose bumps so just imagine what it must be like for their victims laying in front of the killer helpless and waiting to be slaughtered. Done with the imagination part, now let’s go through some gross reality of serial killers on our list of Top 10 famous serial killers.

1. Jeffrey Dahmer- Milwavkee cannibal
American serial killer and sex offender Jeffrey Dahmer, turned out to be a real point of terror between the years 1978 and 1991. As every serial killer has a target group, his target was men and boys whom he raped, murdered and dismembered their body only to enjoy some body parts as feast. He was convicted of 15 murders in 1992 and could spend only 2 years in prison…. No he did not get bailed he was beaten to death by a fellow inmate.
2. Ian Brady and Myra Hindley- Moors Murders
This killer couple had a really vague sense of partnership goals! They enjoyed their time by assaulting and brutally murdering children aged between 10 and 17. There killing spree became famous with the name of Moors Murders in the years 1963 to 1965. On 7th October 1965 they were convicted with 5 murders and were sentenced to life imprisonment.
3. Brenda Ann Spencer- “I don’t like Monday’s”
Many of us don’t like Mondays but this girl went on a completely different level to show her Monday blues. Brenda Spencer, 16 years old was the culprit behind the San Diego school shooting in 1979. She shot students and teachers from her bedroom window eventually killing 2 and injuring 9. Soon after she stopped shooting a reporter called her and asked her the reason for doing so to which she said “I don’t like Mondays”
4. Richard Ramirez- “night stalker”
Deserving to be in our list of famous serial killers Richard Ramirez popularly known as “night stalker” was an American serial killer and a Satan worshipper (because just being a serial killer wasn’t enough). He used to sneak into homes of victims, assaulted them and then stabbed or shot them. Since, he was a Satan worshipper, so pentagrams were found drawn on the walls of his crime scenes. Caught in 1985 and was sentenced to death but he died with lymphoma in June 2013.
5. Alyssa Bustamante- kill for thrill
“it was ahmazing. As soon as you get over the ‘ohmygawd I can’t do this’ feeling, it’s pretty enjoyable. I’m kinda nervous and shaky though right now. Kay, I gotta go to church now… lol.”
This is an excerpt from the diary of 18 year old teenager Alyssa Bustamante. Teenagers are expected to confess things in their dear diary and the same did Alyssa do (how sweet) but she confessed a murder in her diary. She stabbed her 9 year old neighbour Elizabeth Olten, strangled her, sliced her throat and left her body in a shallow covered grave. Wonder if she got a chance to go to church before going to prison.
6. Dennis Nilsen- British serial killer
In the list of top serial killers Dennis Nilsen has made his way by murdering 15 gay men in London, England between the year 1978 and 1983. He dissected his victims and burned their bodies and whatever remaining was left flushed down the drain. Eventually he was caught when the drainage system gave up by taking in so much of human flesh and the neighbours started to complain for blockage (serial killers being a nuisance in every possible manner). He was convicted in 1983 for 6 murders and still remains imprisoned.
7.Ted Bundy- horror of 20th century
One of the popular serial killers is Ted Bundy an American serial killer who used to target women and girls and did many killings in 1970s. He severed at least 12 of his victims head and decorated them as trophies in his apartment (home décor at its worst). He was sentenced to death and executed via electric chair in 1989.
8. Brian Blackwell- luck gone bad
Brian Blackwell an 18 year old teenager from Liverpool, England killed his parents and fled away with his girlfriend on a trip to New York. It sounds more like a priority point from a list of ‘things to do’, before leaving on a trip. Anyway, so the reason behind killing his parents was that he took several loans and credit cards on the name of his father and when his parents started nagging about all the heavy investment done by him he murdered them by stabbing them repeatedly with a hammer (if only they knew that nagging could go so wrong). Diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder he was sentenced to life in prison.
9. Daniel Camargo Barbosa- 150 murders to his name
On our serial killers list he is the one convicted for maximum murders. Daniel Barbosa is said to have killed almost 150 young girls in Colombia since he escaped from a Colombian prison. When he got arrested in Quito, he showed the dumping ground of the victims to the authorities. Convicted in 1989 and sentenced to 16 years in prison got beaten to death in November 1994 by the cousin of a victim. World sure is a small place huh?
10. Graham Young- teacup poisoner
Kid’s fascination to a limit is fine but when it becomes obsession it can lead to an asylum or much worst, to a prison. One of the famous killers is Graham Young who was sent to a mental asylum at a tender age of 15 because of his obsession for poison. He poisoned his own family and kids at school making them extremely ill. He got caught when his step-mother died because of poison in her tea. When he came out of mental hospital he poisoned another 70 people, two of whom died (this kid is just not going to stop).
