1. [REC] (2007)
Narrating the entire story through the lens of a video recorder, the REC is an experimental frightener about an unexplained occurrence in an old apartment building. It is a Spanish zombie film directed and co-written by Paco Plaza and Jaume Balagueró. It was as the first instalment of the REC franchis and was produced by Filmax International, the Spanish motion picture production company. Its title was derived from the word record.
2. Zombieland (2009)
None can surpass Zombieland when it comes to top funny zombie movies. To justify the title, the movie is no doubt full of violence but at the same time its tone is quite light-hearted one. The American comedy was a commercial hit which garnered over $60.8 million within seventeen days from its release on 2nd October 2009. Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin played the role of survivors of a zombie apocalypse in South-western United States.
3. Pirates of the Caribbean
Encompassing a series of scary yet funny films, the Pirates of Caribbean is a Walt Disney Company franchise. There are a total of four sequels and all of them had remained box office success grossing more than $5.4 billion internationally. Its fifth sequel – Dead Men Tell No Tales is dated to be release in 2016 and permitting Johnny Depp to act out the lead role in all of them. It narrates the incidents from Raccoon City after its population was exposed to a deadly virus. The movie was open in the theatre on 10th September 2004 and received more positive reviews compared to its initial part. 5. World War Z (2013)
Known to offer fast moving thrills along with solid performances, World War Z is one of the best zombie movies with its narration revolving around a United Nations employee – Gerry Lane who tours the globe in search of a solution to stop zombie pandemic. It was directed by Marc Forster and the major character was played by Brad Pitt. 6. Quarantine (2008)
An American version of REC, the Quarantine is the story of Angela Vida who witnesses frightening and mysterious incident in the resident of the downtown. Though it bears a familiar narration to that of its original version, this one is known to have delivered heebie-jeebies which were not only shocking but were also affirmative. A sequel to the box office hit – 28 Days Later, the 28 Weeks Later is a British-Spanish film that has garnered a position among the top 10 zombie movies. Loaded with superb action, excitement and thrill, the word scary will be an understatement to define its exhaustingly terrifying scenes. Credit goes to techniques and methodology applied to create the disturbing sensation of the film. It was released on 26th April and 29th June 2007 in London and Spain respectively.
8. Shaun of the Dead (2004)

It had Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as the lead cast to focus on the plot concerning a man who requires not only handling his messy personal life but as well coping with an apocalyptic uprising of zombies. 9. Planet Terror (2007)
Planet Terror was released on 6th April 2007 to narrate in front of the audience the tale of the American city whose population turned into flesh eating zombies after an investigational bio-nerve gas is unintentionally released. 10. Warm Bodies (2013)
A zombie rom-com, Warm Bodies, though unoriginal enough has got something solid for viewers to enjoy. It concentrates on the relationship between “R” – a zombie and Julie – a young woman. The movie as well tries to fit in human characteristics into a zombie, making it hilariously thrilling. The entire movie is based on Isaac Marion’s novel with a similar header. Warm Bodies received five Teen Choice Awards nominations winning one.
