Song composer, Lana Del Rey gifted her fan with Summertime Sadness as the song track for her second studio album. It was released on 22nd June 2012 and became an instant hit in Europe, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Even this year it has topped the charts of Ukraine and Poland. During the summer of 2013, Cedric Gervais released a remixed version of it and this has further helped Summertime Sadness to become a sleeper hit.

The track was released on 18th August, 2013 in the United Kingdom though its accompanying video was made public on 24th July 2013 through YouTube. The debut performance of the track was performed at the New York leg of the international Electric Daisy Carnival festival.
