1. St. Louis
St. Louis is the most dangerous cities in US with almost 2,070.1 crimes per 100,000 residents. It is an independent city on the eastern border of Missouri and has a population of 318,069 according to July 2011 reports.

2. Memphis
Memphis is known for all sorts of violent crimes though its rate has dropped in the last few years. The city from the south-western corner of the U.S. state of Tennessee has witness 89 and 117 life loss in 2010 and 2011 respectively and 15.4 other violent crimes per 1000 people.

3. Oakland
Oakland maintains the position of being in the report for top ten most dangerous cities in US with 104 cases of assassinations in 2011 alone and 16.8 violent crimes per 1000 people. Located in the US state of California, it is the leading city for robbery and motor vehicle theft.

4. Detroit
Regarded as the poorest city in United States with a 32.3% poverty rate and nearly 20% unemployment in 2010, Detroit’s crime rate has not ceased to decrease. Since 2011 Homicide has increased by 11% while robbery and aggravated assault are fourth and second highest in the country, respectively. The largest city in the American state of Michigan has also witnessed 344 assassination in 2011.

5. Baltimore
The critically acclaimed movie, “The wire” is not wrong portraying Baltimore as a city filled with crime, stimulants and poverty. Situated at the central area of Maryland, it is one among the top ten most dangerous cities in US with assassination rate twelve times higher than the national average.

6. Flint
The increase in the number of assassinations from 36 to 55 in between 2009 to 2010, Flint has once again found a position among the most dangerous cities in United States. With a rate of 14.6 assaults per 1,000 residents, the city in the American state Michigan has gained a reputation as one in the top ten most dangerous cities in United States.

7. Birmingham

8. Little Rock
The eighth place for most dangerous cities has been taken up by Little Rock with 15.2 violent crimes for every 1000 people. It has one of the highest rates of aggravated mugging and forcible rape in the country with 25 and 37 cases of assassinations reported in 2010 and 2011 respectively. According to the Little Rock Police Department’s COMPSTAT reports, the total number of violent, property and arson crimes has experienced a net increase since 2001.

9. Stockton
Though Stockton has been in the news for various crimes, the offence rate in the city has increased 13.8 to 14.1 per 1000 people. 53 assassinations were accounted in 2011 and is a major hub for the drug cartel between Mexico, Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia.

10. New Heaven
With a historic record of crimes and offences, New Heaven’s scenario has worsen in the recent times 15.8 violent transgressions in every 1000 people. The city has the eighth highest rate of robbery and the fourth highest rate of assault in the U.S. with double in the number of slays last year thus becoming one in the line of top ten most dangerous cities in US.

    I can believe it with St.Louis, and what’s sad is that kids are starting to kill a lot as well. I live here all my life. It saddens me what I see. Young children selling stimulants, robbing people, etc. What saddens me more is their is a lot of sex trafficking of young girls here. No corporation from police department. Ad very sad
